The owner of Grass Hopper
… is the same friendly voice you will hear when you call our company. Walter Smith Jr. takes a lot of pride in running his business and making sure he works directly with his customers. You will see him working alongside his crew and getting his hands dirty.
Wally grew up in Presque Isle playing in the woods, landscaping and maintaining his forts. It’s obvious he never outgrew his love for being outside. Even as a kid he was always so motivated to work. As he got older, he started mowing the neighbors’ lawns. He always loved working for himself. His first business was a window washing business in Petoskey, Michigan. He later moved to Alpena where he started up Mason Disposal while still doing landscaping on the side. He was always successful in his businesses but his love for being outside pulled him back to doing landscaping full time. For the last 10
